Federation Liasion for Fundraising

The position of Federation Liasion for Fundraising to the Sierra Nevada Region is one focused on education rather than developing fundraising projects for individual clubs.  The Federation, Soroptimist International of the Americas, has many fundraising opportunities for members and clubs to participate in.  It is important for our Region’s individual clubs to support these areas as the funds received from us are returned to the Region to fund awards such as Violet Richardson and Women’s Opportunity Award.

The Federation fundraising areas include the following:

  • Founder’s Pennies:  Paid as a voluntary assessment with our Region dues each year.
  • Laurel Society:  Members and clubs are encouraged to donated to the Laurel Society and become members by contributing $1,000 for each membership.  These highly coveted memberships may be given as a gift to a deserving member by their club or purchased by a member for her personal use.  Clubs are encouraged to budget each year any amount until the total of $1,000 has been attained and a membership can be purchased.
  • Laurel Legacy:  Club members may wish to leave a legacy grant to the Federation by naming SIA in their estate or will document.  No specific gift is required to be included as a Laurel Legacy member.
  • GoodSearch:  Use GoodSearch, a part of Google, when looking for something on the internet and SIA will receive funds with every search.  A very easy way to help fund the Federation while surfing the net!

There are many other way to support our Federation programs and I encourage everyone to go to the SIA website, click on the Members Only tab, scroll down to the “Sunflower” to see all the amazing opportunities available.

As your Federation Liasion, I am ready to provide your club with a newsletter article to provide more detail about the fundraising opportunities in support of our Federation.
