Governor's Message

February 14, 2017

Dear Soroptimists,

Another busy week, so a couple of things to share....

Imagine If....we could grow our membership thru chartering some new clubs. Well, we just did.  I know I announced this awhile back, but now it's really official.  The Charter party was on January 31st with an installation of the offices and induction of the new members.  It has been confirmed that SI Sutter-Yuba has her tax exempt status.  Per our region protocols, It is customary for each club to send a token monetary gift to help them get started.  Please send your donations and congratulation notes to our new club at:

Soroptimist International of Sutter-Yuba
PO Box 1402
Yuba City, CA  95992

On another note....how about a sneak peak at what is coming up for our 2017 Conference?  Look here for a peak. I am pleased to announce that Shirlee Draper, SIA 2014 Live Your Dream Finalist, will be with us on Sunday and share her story and experiences since she received her award in Vancouver, Canada.  Fun entertainment both Friday and Saturday nights with more information to come in the Call to Conference that will be out in a few weeks.  Our hotel block is already 70% booked, just sayin'.

On a somber note, our hearts and best wishes are extended to the members who are affected by the situation at the Oroville Dam.  Several clubs are in the downstream area and have been evacuated and displaced.  For those in the surrounding areas, please check with your local officials to determine if they are in need of donations for those in your local emergency shelters.

Sincerely,

Governor Vicki
